Free Onsite Support Services Plan/Outline

Executive Order 2020-51 requires schools to provide on-site support services so that students who need a place to go or who have specific needs are well-supported, and children are enabled to continue effective distance learning successfully. 

The intention of the Governor’s Order is that we serve the more vulnerable students in our district, such as the children of first responders, those with special education services, English language learners (ELL) or homeless and foster care students. The district currently offers free, on-site support services at Liberty, Freedom, Rainbow Valley, and Westar school sites. Beginning October 12th, all school sites will offer Onsite Support Services. The multi-purpose rooms will be open for In-Person Learning and Distance Learning students to be able to use Chromebooks with internet connection to complete their distance learning. Children will be supervised by a support staff member for safety. Transportation is not provided to and from Onsite Support due to limited capacity with social distancing on buses.

The safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff is our number one priority. On-site support services will follow CDC and Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) Guidelines. 

Social Distancing Measures

Onsite support services will utilize the multi-purpose rooms. Cafeteria tables will be set up in these spaces. Children will be required to sit six feet apart, face the same direction, and follow all face covering protocols outlined by the District and Executive Orders.

Onsite Support Services Daily Expectations

  • Students are expected to bring their district-provided technology device (chromebook) each day. If one has not been checked out to them, the district will check out one to the student.
  • Students are expected to work on their distance learning coursework while present.
  • Students are required to wear a mask at all times except when eating or drinking.
  • Students are expected to follow all district behavior expectations while under the supervision of District staff.  
  • District staff members will follow the discipline matrix for necessary and appropriate disciplinary interventions which may include suspension from the on-site learning opportunity.
  • Students need to bring their own water bottle(s). Water bottle refill stations are available.

Check-in and Release Time Procedures 

Check-in and Release Time procedures have been implemented to minimize the number of individuals entering the facility and allow adherence to social-distancing measures. Only LESD staff and registered students will be allowed to enter the facility. 

When possible, the same parent or caregiver should check in and check out the child every day. It is recommended that elderly caregivers or those with serious underlying medical conditions, which may put them at an increased risk for severe illness related to COVID-19, refrain from dropping off/picking up children.

There will be two designated stations for both check-in and release.  Please follow these guidelines to ensure both safe and efficient check-in and check-out practices.

Hours of Operation: 8:30 - 3:30

Check-in

  • Check-in times will be between 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
  • No students will be permitted to check-in after 12:00 pm
  • Check-in requires a caregiver to be present to sign the child in

Check-in Station 1:

  • Parent or caregiver shall pull the vehicle up to the curbside check-in station 1.
  • Parents will remain in the vehicle.
  • Staff will bring the sign in/sign-out log to the parent to check in the child.
  • Students will exit the vehicle. 
  • LESD staff will conduct a daily visual health check routine.

  • Upon entering the building, students will be escorted to the nearest bathroom (sink) where they will wash and sanitize hands prior to heading to their assigned seat. 

Check-in Station 2:

  • Parents who walk their children to campus will go directly to check-in station 2  to check their child in. The sign in/sign-out log will be outside on a table for parents to sign children in.
  • A basket marked “clean pens” will be available for sign in.  Parents are asked to place their used pen into the basket marked “used pens”. All used pens will be sanitized daily. 
  • (Please print full first and last name) (Must be legible). Parents may use their own pens to sign in.

Student release time  - by vehicle

  • At release time, parent or caregiver shall pull up to the designated pick-up area.
  • Caregivers will notify staff members which child they are there to check out.
  • Staff will communicate to release the child.
  • Parents cannot enter the facility. 
  • A LESD staff member will bring your child out to you. Doing so will limit direct contact and help us to maintain social distancing. 

Student release time -  walkers

  • At release time, the parent or caregiver goes to the check-in/check-out station. 
  • Caregiver will notify the staff member which child is being picked up. 
  • Staff will communicate to release the child.
  • Parents cannot enter the facility. 
  • A LESD staff member will bring your child out to you. Doing so will limit direct contact and help us to maintain social distancing. 

Student release (prior to 3:30)

  • If a child needs to check out prior to 3:30, parent authorization is required to allow for release without a parent present. 
  • If the child is to walk home, a caregiver may contact the school via phone to authorize release of the child prior to 3:30 pm.
  • If the child is being picked up by a caregiver, the child will be signed out by the caregiver at the time of release.

Parents, we ask you to continually monitor your child’s symptoms and conduct regular health screening in the home. If your child, a member of your household, or you have received a positive diagnosis with or exposed to Coronavirus, please DO NOT use the on-site learning opportunity until all isolation and quarantine protocols have been met. 
The CDC continues to emphasize that the risk of any illness is reduced with proper handwashing, staying away from others who are ill, and if you are ill, staying home until you are symptom free for 24 hours. 

Cleaning And Disinfecting

The Free Onsite Support Services Program will continue to follow the CDC guidelines,local health agency recommendations for cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting the facility.

  • Assigned Staff will be responsible for following cleaning and sanitization protocols as prescribed but the school district.  This includes:
    • High-touch surfaces, such as door handles, light switches, faucets, and cafeteria table surfaces will be disinfected.
    • All of the surfaces mentioned above will be cleaned multiple times per day.
    • Night custodial crew will perform regular cleaning and sanitation protocols at the conclusion of each day.

Prevention

  • Social Distancing: Children will be required to sit six feet apart, face the same direction. Social Distancing markers will be placed to enhance social distancing measures.
  • Staff / Children will frequently wash hands (20 seconds) or use alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
  • Staff and students are required to wear cloth face coverings.
  • Children will be taught to avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Children must stay home when sick.
  • Staff will clean and disinfect frequently touched objects, equipment, and surfaces between uses.

Student and Staff Continued Health and Preventative Measures

  • Staff have received/and will continue to receive updates in training on COVID-19 symptoms as well as preventive measures, workplace disinfection and infection control. 
  • Children who start to experience symptoms of respiratory illness, including a fever of >100° while at child care, will be temporarily isolated and under staff supervision from other children until they can be picked up.
  • Sharing of devices, phones, meals, or utensils will be restricted for staff and students. 
  • Staff members will check their temperature prior to the start of each shift and notify their supervisor if >100. Staff will self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and notify their supervisor if any develop. 
  • Staff will not be allowed to work if feeling ill or experiencing respiratory symptoms. 
  • Staff and students will regularly wash hands including upon entrance and exiting of the facility, prior to eating and hourly. 
  • Alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer will be made available when soap and water are not available.
  • Ongoing preventative cautions will be exercised and encouraged for the benefit of staff and students, including:
    • the use of social distancing within a shared space
    • wearing of cloth face coverings by staff
    • avoidance of touching eyes, nose and mouth
    • staying home when sick

Meals    

  • All surfaces will be disinfected before meal preparation and feedings using CDC- or EPA-approved products.
  • All meals will be prepared in advance and prepackaged.
  • All meals will be pre-plated by Food Services personnel.
  • All staff/students will wash hands before and after breakfast and/or lunch.
  • Food Service personnel will follow all requirements for PPE and meal distribution guidelines.
  • Students may bring their own lunch and snacks.
  • Meal pricing applies, free for those who qualify.

Illnesses/Accidents 

We request that you please keep sick children at home.

If your child becomes ill during the hours of operation, a staff member will contact a parent/guardian or authorized designee. If a parent/guardian cannot be reached, the child will be isolated in the appropriate area within the health office until the parent/guardian can come to pick up the child.. 

Please keep your child(ren) home if they have the following symptoms or illnesses: 

  • Any contagious disease such as strep throat, pink eye, chicken pox, etc.
  • Vomiting 
  • A persistent cough 
  • Muscle aches 
  • Diarrhea 
  • Fever over 100 degrees F 

A child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before they may return to the On-Site Learning Opportunity.
