New Health Benchmarks for Safe Return to In-Person School

The Arizona Health Services Department issued Health Benchmarks to guide local Governing Boards guidance on safe return to in-person, teacher-led instruction in traditional brick and mortar schools. At this time, data on the Arizona Health Services dashboard shows that Maricopa County meets the SUBSTANTIAL threshold. According to this benchmark, district schools should continue virtual learning opportunities and should not return to in-person learning. The Governing Board will meet on August 10th, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the new Health Benchmarks and the current COVID-19 Maricopa County epidemiology data. Blue Horizon Elementary School

Thank you community members for your input on Liberty Elementary School District's newest school. At the July 13, 2020, Governing Board Meeting the Board voted to name School #7, Blue Horizon Elementary with the Bobcats as the mascot.

Liberty Elementary School District voters approved bond funding to build School #7 in the northern area of the school district in the Blue Horizons community. The school is expected to serve families in Blue Horizon and Vista de Montana communities. The school will be built with both bond funding and Arizona School Facility Board (SFB) funds. The SFB is expected to approve funding for about half of the construction costs in December 2020. The district has developed two options for construction: 1) With SFB approval - open K-5 in August 2021 and add 6th-8th grades over the next three years or 2) Without SFB approval - open K-2 in August 2021 and postpone second phase of construction until SFB approves at a later date.
